Camera Recycling Program
In an effort to facilitate citizen journalism, EnviroSpeak has developed a camera recycling program to make video and digital cameras available to environmental enthusiasts who would not otherwise have the means to document environmental issues or solutions within their local area. A citizen citizen journalist is someone who wants to help contribute media to EnviroSpeak from their local community but doesn’t necessarily have formal training. Citizen Journalism is playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information, and will integral to the success of EnviroSpeak’s objective to document in initiate real world change. The EnviroSpeak recycling program calls for used camera donations which are matched with pre-qualified candidates looking to participate in on EnviroSpeak by capturing and uploading media (video and photographs) to the site.

As a citizen citizen journalist you can apply to receive a camera on behalf of EnviroSpeak and its donor base. EnviroSpeak will provide you will a working camera and the necessary instructions to capture and document environmental events, issues, problems and solutions within your locale. Citizen journalists in need of digital video or photography equipment s are encouraged to submit a brief application using our online application form located here. Citizen journalists from any country are encouraged to apply. We will do our best to accommodate equipment documentation and instructions in your native language. You will be notified via email of your application status. If you’d like to apply for a camera please send an email to media@envirospeak.tv and we’ll send you an application form.
Donors are encouraged to send un-wanted camera’s to EnviroSpeak for re-packaging and distribution to pre-qualified candidates around the world. In most cases your camera will end up in South America, Africa or Asia to help the less fortunate participate in our community. Here is a brief list of what we accept:
- Consumer grade digital video cameras (mini DV, HD, SD, HDD)
- Consumer grade digital cameras
- Commercial digital video cameras
**ALL Cameras must be in good working order as we currently do not have the capcity at this stage to repair broken cameras. (perhaps in the future)***
We will also ask you to complete an EnviroSpeak profile so we can introduce you to the citizen journalist who receives your camera. Using on-site communication and collaboration tools you can follow the progress of the citizen journalist as they put your camera to use documenting environmental issues and solutions within their local area. If you’d like to apply for pre-paid shipping please send an email to shipping@envirospeak.tv and we’ll send you the appropriate mailing instructions.
The objective of this program is to increase international participation within the EnviroSpeak community. We are aware that the developing world is often the most effective by industrial pollution, post consumer waste and inadequate environmental policy. We’re attempting to break down the barriers of citizen journalistic participation by providing the means for those less fortunate than ourselves to build awareness for environmental problems and locally developed solutions from all corners of the globe.
